Text Box: Here is a poem that was sold back in 1902 to help the miners and there families of Denaby and Cadeby collieries after the coal mine owners evicted the people from there homes. Not a postcard, but a reminder of just one hardship the people of the small mining town suffered over the years. This strike lasted over 40 weeks until 1903.
Old and fragile now - but still a wonderful item from Denaby Main & Cadeby and the strike that would be known as the ‘BAGMUCK STRIKE’ .

One of my favourites in excellent mint condition, not too sure of the wording but looks like “ Denaby Old Folks Coronation Treat “ .No publishers name but from the style of writing in the caption I would say it was R. J Rosser of Conisbro

Denaby Old Folks Coronation Treat ( ?)

I do not have a clue!!... No publishers name, but looks to be a school playing field?, some kind of event is happening here. Ideas please?. On further inspection the building in the background appears to be St Albans school.

A recent addition to my collection and now one of my favourites, this is a splendid and rare view of Denaby, by the looks of it the view was taken from the  upper deck of a tram/trackless bus. Postcard published by ..

Main Street, Denaby.

A postcard showing the Colliery, this was sent more or less 12 months after the local Cadeby Colliery disaster as the sender mentions on the postcard that “both pits had a day off on Wednesday July 9th in remembrance of the explosion 12 months ago”. No publishers name

DENABY MAIN PIT, DENABY.

A old postcard showing the Reresby Arms (The Pig/Milestone - at present boarded up). I have no idea of either the date or the publisher of the postcard, but it is very early 1900’s. I would say the bloke stood in the doorway with the black dog is the landlord.

RERESBY ARMS

This looks like the same event pictured 4 up. In the background St Albans Catholic church can be seen. No date to go by, but the publishers is..

JEROME Ltd.

St Albans Catholic school sports day??.

A ultra scarce postcard showing Whitsuntide procession back in 1922, also noted is the large banner showing ‘THE IRISH NATONAL FORRESTERS SHEFFIELD BRANCH’. Denaby had a huge amount of Irish men working the 2 local coal mines, Denaby was also known as ‘Little Ireland’ because of this. No publishers name.

DENABY CATHOLIC PROCESSION, WHITSUNTIDE. 1922.

From the same event. Wonderful rare postcard.
