A card from the 1940’s and published by JS&S

Clayton Memorial Gardens. Mexboro.

No much to go on in this postcard, but chances are it’s possibly Whitsuntide parade in Mexborough in the 1920’s. No clue to the publishers but almost certainly a postcard by local  photographer Medcalf. The Commmercial Pub in the background.

Whitsun parade

Another event, this too looks to be a Whitsuntide gathering. No date of publisher but almost certainly a card from the 1920’s published by.. Medcalf.

No caption, but almost certainly a Whitsuntide gathering in Mexborough.

Another mystery card, this one is published by Medcalf - but what is the celebration event?.. People are dressed in their very finest clothes, and the cart is decked out with the Union flag. Maybe a coronation event?. Possibly the street just off Bank Street near the old Library.

Mexborough.

A interesting postcard that has wrote on the reverse.. ’This is the property of pt. G. R. Barthorpe, Coldstream Guards 14979. Home address, 44 Wellington Street, Mexbro, Yorkshire, England. No publishers name or date, but one of the posters on the wall is showing the poster of ‘Jack Johnson Vs Frank Moran, and this bout took place back in 1914
