THE ARCADIA SERIES

A excellent real photo postcard of the local hero James William Hague. Signed ‘Yours Truly Iron Hague’. No publishers name. Also next to this is a 4 page authentic program dated 1911 that I have in my collection. I believe Bombardier Wells won Iron Hague on this occasion.

A view of the ferry back in 1937 when this postcard was mailed.. Postcard published by… J.S &.S (James Simonton & Sons) - just so that the person from the Historical Society now knows that JS&S is *NOT* the initials of Sheffield publisher SNEATH.

This postcard is seen on a previous page on here, same publisher except this example has a different caption and is a borderless postcard. This was mailed in 1913 from a gent who lived at ‘The Farm - Old Denaby’. Postcard published by “H.B.” Real Photo Series.

THE FERRY, MEXBRO.

Nice postcard showing a very animated street scene, the bill board on the right hand side (next to the Montagu Arms) reads.. ‘Vote for Law 3rd April’ and opposite can be seen as what looks like the market. Postally used in 1909 but no publishers name.

JS&S (James Simonton & Son - Balby, Doncaster)

Bandstand, Castle Hills Park, Mexboro.

Coalfield brick works and the new erected chimney. I knew this factory so well. Full caption reads… MEXBORO’ CHIMNEY - 150 ft. High. Erected for the Yorkshire Amalgamated Products Ltd, Conisboro’ 1927, also demolition of old chimney.
